Source and Summit 6/28
There's something about The Alps, or any impressive mountains range. They are crumbling. Along with patches of snow and trees even up to the top, one cannot avoid seeing the sloping rocks that have fallen in cascading sections. Gravity, wind, animals, humans all, little by little erode the mountains even one pebble at a time. By far the most impressive eroding factor seems to be water. One can see the v-shaped cuts in the mountainsides that running water has relentlessly formed. Looking from the opposite side of any valley, those waterfalls and streams feed the fertile valleys of the Valle D'Aosta from the melting snow at the high summits. Even though the water destroys, it brings life down to an accessible place.
