The week before has been hot and cloudless. Temperatures up into the high 90s with no wind and during most of the walks very little shade. There was no cooling off even during the night.
Yesterday I found myself happy that the temperature was 90. Every now and then the wind would blow my shade hat off of my head - but caught by the string under my chin from flying off. I found myself rejoicing over an event that, at some other time, would have been annoying. There is a life lesson in there somewhere.
Tomorrow begins the ascent over the Apennines toward the Passo della Cisa. Time to get ready physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
